Your beliefs are limiting your possibilities

Your beliefs are limiting you possibilities

Ever wondered why it is so difficult to change things about oneself despite the ‘Only thing that is constant is change‘. If it is, then it shouldn’t be so difficult to accept and adapt to change. The story, however, is different and any time an opportunity strikes for a change, we ignore it, hesitate to act, consider ourselves helpless or hide from it and sometimes get anxious about it.

As a result, we feel stuck. This goes on and on and on almost like a never-ending loop. We think of change, but whenever the situation requires change, we don’t. The worst part of all this is the feeling which you get about your life being stuck, dull, boring, useless maybe.

So, what’s stops us from moving forward in life and changing it the way we want it to be?

If you go and check people around you, you will find that there are a lot of people who have defied the same obstacles that most of us are facing and have shaped their life. What is it that they have done, and you are not able to?

Every person is born equal the only distinction being the physical appearance. So, one of the possibilities, which is to be born with some special abilities goes out of the door. Some may have better resources and comfortable life and better opportunities to be successful and some may not.  If you have heard of rich people getting richer then I am sure you would have also heard of poor people getting rich or reaching great levels. What I basically mean that people who have had minimal resources have also made it big in life. One such real-life example is the A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. I don’t think I need to say more about him.

Next time when you hear something like “he is a born leader” or “he was born with those abilities to make big” just ignore it as you don’t get born with special abilities. All those skills, abilities you pick up on the way to that achievement or failure. The only thing that makes the difference is the belief and the conviction you hold while taking actions to change.

We all have immense potential to do things that are way beyond our capabilities. I am sure you must be wondering how can one do things beyond capability? Well, you can always increase your capability. After all, the guy who came up with the law of gravity was as normal as you and I were, to begin with, and over the years developed himself. If Newton would have given up to his mom’s wishes and not believed in himself, he would have been a farmer and left school.

In life, the beliefs are convictions we have about something. So the next time when you feel stuck, unable to do something, check your beliefs. It may be limiting your possibilities. Our beliefs can hold us back and at the same time make us do exceptional things which you can’t imagine.

The beliefs which we form are a result of years of experience based on our interpretation of those experiences and all this happens without you even knowing it. As years pass by these beliefs start controlling your life and if they are limiting beliefs then they stop you from creating the life you want.

A lot of us keep complaining in life that we don’t get enough time to exercise, spend time with family, do things that they want to do in life. Everyone has 24 hours day 365 days a year and yet some people can do things they want to do, and some keep complaining. If you really want to do something, you will find the time to do so if you have conviction and beliefs that you can. Until then you will keep procrastinating, hiding, having self-doubts or keep giving the same excuse. The worst part is you are giving these excuses to yourself.

Power to live the life you want to is to “Think” and “Act”, it’s that simple. Most of the time we don’t move beyond the thinking stage. It’s a habit developed over the years. The mind is designed to protect us from every situation that is uncomfortable, scary or difficult.
